Job Purpose
The Waste Water Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and associated water recovery systems within the manufacturing facility. The role oversees wastewater treatment processes, equipment operation, laboratory monitoring, and maintenance coordination to ensure that all discharged and recovered water meets internal standards and environmental regulations.
The position plays a critical role in environmental compliance, operational continuity, sustainability, and cost optimization by reducing water waste, ensuring treatment efficiency, and preventing environmental incidents. The supervisor also leads plant operators, coordinates maintenance and laboratory activities, and ensures full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Wastewater Plant Operations & Supervision
•Supervise and manage daily operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and water recovery systems.
•Ensure stable plant operation and compliance with discharge standards.
•Monitor influent and effluent water parameters and adjust treatment processes accordingly.
•Control process parameters including chemical dosing, aeration, sludge handling, and filtration processes.
•Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for process optimization.
•Prepare and implement plant operating schedules.
•Coordinate and supervise operator shifts to ensure uninterrupted operations.
•Ensure continuous availability of treatment capacity during peak production.
•Supervise sludge management and disposal operations in compliance with regulations.
•Optimize water reuse and recovery processes to reduce overall plant water consumption.
•Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness within plant facilities.
2. Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
•Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities with Maintenance teams.
•Monitor performance of pumps, blowers, filters, dosing systems, tanks, and control equipment.
•Report equipment abnormalities and ensure timely repair actions.
•Maintain operational logs of equipment performance.
•Support troubleshooting of plant mechanical, electrical, and process issues.
•Ensure availability of critical spare parts for plant equipment.
3. Laboratory Testing & Compliance
•Supervise routine laboratory testing of influent, intermediate, and effluent water samples.
•Ensure accurate measurement of parameters such as:
o pH
o COD
o BOD
o TSS
o Oil & grease
o Dissolved oxygen
o Conductivity
•Maintain testing schedules and laboratory procedures.
•Review and validate test results and initiate corrective actions when required.
•Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
•Maintain laboratory chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
•Prepare environmental compliance reports for management and authorities.
4. Regulatory & Environmental Compliance
•Ensure full compliance with environmental discharge regulations and permits.
•Maintain records required for audits and inspections.
•Support internal and external environmental audits.
•Implement corrective actions in case of non-compliance.
•Monitor plant environmental impact and implement mitigation measures.
5. Resource Planning & Procurement Support
•Forecast and plan chemical and consumable requirements.
•Coordinate with procurement for ordering chemicals and supplies.
•Monitor chemical consumption and optimize usage.
•Ensure stock availability without overstocking.
• Support evaluation of chemicals, consumables, and suppliers based on operational performance.
6. Health, Safety & Environmental Management
•Enforce safe work practices within plant operations.
•Ensure proper use of PPE and chemical handling procedures.
•Identify operational and environmental risks.
•Ensure compliance with company HSE standards.
•Participate in incident investigations and corrective action planning.
•Conduct safety awareness sessions for plant operators.
7. Documentation & Reporting
•Maintain plant operational records and logs.
•Generate daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports
•Track treatment efficiency and downtime incidents.
•Maintain compliance and maintenance documentation.
•Provide performance summaries to management.
8. Team Leadership & Development
•Supervise wastewater operators and technicians.
•Train operators on plant procedures and safety requirements.
•Monitor team performance and discipline.
•Promote continuous improvement culture.
•Ensure proper shift handover communication.
9. Continuous Improvement & Sustainability
•Identify opportunities to improve treatment efficiency and reduce operational costs.
•Propose process upgrades and improvements.
•Support sustainability initiatives related to water reuse and waste reduction.
•Contribute to energy and chemical optimization initiatives.
Undertake additional responsibilities as required, in line with the scope, level, and objectives of the role.

Job Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in: Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 4–6 years of experience in wastewater treatment or industrial utilities operations, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies.
Understanding of biological and chemical treatment processes.
Knowledge of sludge treatment and disposal methods.
Understanding of pumps, blowers, filters, and dosing systems.
Familiarity with PLC/SCADA plant monitoring systems.
SOP implementation and compliance monitoring.
Knowledge of pH analyzers, flow meters, dosing controllers, level sensors, and online monitoring instruments.
