Description / Purpose

A large organization operating in the energy sector in Basrah is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Business Partner to support a complex, operationally intensive environment. The role works closely with senior leaders and functional teams to shape people agenda that support safe operations.

The position serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing data-driven HR decisions regarding workforce planning, employee relations, talent management, organizational effectiveness, and engagement. The role requires sound judgment, credibility with senior stakeholders, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, high‑accountability environment.

Accountabilities and Requirements

• Partner with business leaders to understand operational priorities and provide practical HR support that drives organizational effectiveness, change initiatives, and culture.
• Support Employee Engagement initiatives, including annual Employee Engagement survey results analysis, action tracking, and follow‑up with stakeholders.
• Coach and advise leaders on people management matters, including leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and workplace conduct.
• Support talent management processes such as succession planning, development planning, and performance management.
• Work closely with recruitment function and to support resourcing and align hiring needs with the business.
• Partner with Learning and Development teams to identify staff capability gaps.
• Support job evaluation, role clarity, and organizational structure reviews where required.
• Ensure HR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks are applied consistently and fairly.

Key Challenges

• Supporting diverse range of staff groups in an evolving operational environment.
• Balancing strategic HR plans with day‑to‑day business and operational support.
• Change management – Support for the impacted business to deliver change and management of organizational implications
• Managing ER risks – Have a strong floor connect to pick up weak signals & engage with Supervisors / Leaders, to enforce a prescribed proactive approach to sustain a sustainable / high performance work culture

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications such as CIPD or relevant HR certification are an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of HR experience, preferably in O&G industry, including experience in an HR Business Partner role.
• Solid knowledge of Employee Relations, Performance Management, Talent Management, and Organizational Development.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR and workforce data.
• Clear and confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience working with SAP Success factors OR relevant HR systems.
• Highly proficient in English Language (written and oral).
