Job Location: Saudi Arabia
JOB PURPOSE
To lead and support technical design, reverse engineering, repair, retrofit, and service activities for power and distribution transformers across workshop and site operations. The role ensures compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and organizational quality requirements while providing engineering solutions for transformer failures, upgrades, and modifications. Key responsibilities include design support, reverse engineering of failed transformers, technical documentation, material planning, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead and provide technical guidance for reverse engineering and transformer repair/design activities.
Perform electrical design of power, distribution, and auto-transformers up to 250 MVA / 245 kV class.
Carry out failure analysis and technical investigation of transformers for service and repair jobs.
Develop and review electrical design documents in line with customer specifications and project requirements.
Ensure timely preparation and release of BOM (Bill of Materials) in SAP with correct technical specifications.
Support material planning and coordination for ongoing service and production work orders.
Manage MRP activities including purchase requisitions and technical validation of materials.
Issue and review material data requests in coordination with supply chain management.
Prepare and review tender documents, cost sheets, and technical offers for service projects.
Optimize tender design, GTP preparation, and pre/post-bid technical clarifications.
Review and create protection and control circuit diagrams, including mark-up drawings for site modifications.
Prepare mechanical drawings for retrofit, repair, and modification using AutoCAD and Pro/ENGINEER (ProE).
Develop scope of work for outsourced services and specialized repair activities.
Conduct site visits to prepare technical reports and propose engineering solutions.
Support interchangeability assessments and provide field-based technical recommendations
Participate in technical meetings, job execution reviews, and tender discussions as required.
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve design quality.
Maintain engineering documentation, design standards, and product information systems.
Review transformer inspection, testing, and failure reports and provide engineering approval/comments.
Ensure compliance with Aramco, SEC, and other applicable standards.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum Experience: 8–10 years of experience in transformer design, manufacturing, repair, or service engineering
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of transformer electrical design principles
Experience in reverse engineering and failure analysis
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Pro/ENGINEER (or equivalent design tools)
Knowledge of transformer protection and control schemes
Understanding of transformer testing, diagnostics, and service repair practices
Familiarity with Aramco, SEC, and international transformer standards
Knowledge of oil DGA analysis (advantageous)
