Role Description

The Project Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all health, safety, and environmental activities across the project site. The role ensures full compliance with company policies, local regulations, and international HSE standards while promoting a strong safety culture throughout all project operations.

The HSE Manager will lead risk management initiatives, conduct inspections and investigations, implement preventive and corrective actions, and ensure all contractors and subcontractors maintain the highest safety and environmental standards. The role also includes developing HSE procedures, delivering trainings and awareness sessions, monitoring site performance, and preparing regular HSE reports for management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: Develop, implement, and continuously update comprehensive project-specific HSE policies, procedures, and safety management plans.
• Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee full alignment with all local environmental regulations and international Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) protocols.
• Risk Mitigation: Conduct rigorous risk assessments, regular site inspections, and deep-dive incident investigations; implement swift preventive and corrective action plans (CAPA).
• Contractor Governance: Heavily monitor and audit contractor and subcontractor HSE performance to ensure they strictly adhere to Ora’s elite safety standards.
• Training & Emergency Readiness: Design and deliver impactful HSE training, tool-box talks, and awareness sessions, while managing emergency response and evacuation planning.
• Reporting & Analytics: Formulate detailed HSE performance reports, safety statistics, and KPIs for executive management and stakeholders.
• Culture Leadership: Act as the primary champion for safety, driving behavior-based safety initiatives across all project tiers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Construction, or related Engineering discipline) is mandatory
• Minimum 12 years of experience in HSE management within construction or large-scale projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health protocols
• Proficiency in using NEBOSH standards and certifications
• Experience in Project Management with a focus on safety and environmental planning
• Skills in delivering effective Training sessions related to health, safety, and environment
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities with the capacity to manage and influence teams
• Excellent understanding of local and international health and safety regulations
• Ability to identify risks and implement preventative measures
• Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or project management industry is advantageous
