Material / Technical Engineer (Fit-out & Joinery)

About the Role:

Sourcing for a Material / Technical Engineer with a Degree in Architecture exclusively. Focused on high-end interior fit-out and joinery projects. Responsibilities include technical detailing, architectural shop drawings, and material selection. Candidates must have an architectural background to ensure aesthetic and technical alignment

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2–3 years of proven experience in the UAE market, specifically in Fit-out & Joinery projects.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of interior materials (Wood, Marble, Metals, Fabrics) and Abu Dhabi Municipality / Civil Defense standards.
• Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (for tracking logs) and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Professional Attributes: Strong negotiation skills with suppliers, extreme attention to detail, and excellent time management to meet tight deadlines.
• Language: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Material Submittals & Documentation Management:

• Prepare, compile, and organize comprehensive Technical Submittal packages (Technical Data Sheets, Country of Origin, Compliance Certificates, and Warranties).
• Source and select physical material samples, ensuring they strictly match the project’s aesthetic and technical requirements.
• Maintain and update a rigorous Material Submittal Log to track the status of all items (Approved, Approved as Noted, or Rejected).

2. Technical Coordination & Supplier Liaison:

• Directly coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to verify material availability, lead times, and technical specifications.
• Liaise with the Design and Shop Drawing teams to ensure that selected materials are compatible with construction details and joinery fabrication.
• Proactively resolve any technical discrepancies between consultant specifications and market-available materials.

3. Compliance, BOQ & Authority Requirements:

• Verify that all materials align with the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and project-specific technical specifications to prevent quality gaps.
• Ensure all specialized fit-out materials meet UAE Civil Defense requirements and fire-safety standards.
• Ensure materials comply with sustainability standards or any specific client/landlord regulations.

4. Consultant & Client Management:

• Submit technical packages and samples to consultants/clients for review and approval.
• Efficiently manage Comments & Resubmissions; addressing consultant feedback promptly to secure final approvals.
• Monitor submittal timelines to ensure there are no delays in the procurement and site delivery schedule.
