Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Internal Control Framework to ensure effective governance, risk management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Lead risk-based internal control reviews and testing activities to assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls across business and support functions.
Evaluate controls within critical microfinance processes, including customer onboarding, lending, collections, treasury operations, and financial reporting.
Identify control deficiencies, process weaknesses, and compliance gaps, and recommend practical corrective actions to strengthen the control environment.
Design and execute periodic control testing and monitoring programs to ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Assess emerging operational, regulatory, and compliance risks and recommend enhancements to existing controls and processes.
Prepare and present internal control assessment reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management and relevant governance committees.
Partner with business units to develop remediation plans, monitor implementation progress, and validate the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Maintain risk and control matrices, testing documentation, issue trackers, and other internal control records to support effective oversight and reporting.
Monitor recurring control issues and key risk indicators, ensuring timely escalation of significant control weaknesses and risk exposures.
Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and external reviews by providing control assessments, documentation, and management insights as required.
Promote a culture of accountability, risk awareness, and strong internal controls across the organization through ongoing guidance, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
