The Medical Quality Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving quality and patient safety programs across all departments of the medical center. The role ensures compliance with national healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, infection control requirements, and patient safety goals while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
Develop, review, and update policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
Monitor compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular quality audits across all departments.
Support accreditation preparation and maintenance activities.
Monitor corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA).
Patient Safety
Implement and monitor patient safety initiatives.
Investigate incidents, near misses, adverse events, and patient complaints.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend corrective actions.
Track patient safety indicators and report trends to management.
Performance Improvement
Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Analyze clinical and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
Lead quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Prepare monthly quality reports and dashboards.
Infection Prevention & Control
Work closely with the Infection Control Team to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
Participate in surveillance activities and improvement initiatives.
Monitor hand hygiene and infection control compliance rates.
Staff Education & Training
Conduct quality and patient safety training programs.
Educate staff on policies, procedures, accreditation standards, and incident reporting.
Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain quality records and documentation.
Ensure all departments maintain required documentation standards.
Participate in regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related healthcare field.
Certification in healthcare quality, patient safety, or accreditation is preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality management systems.
Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, accreditation, or hospital operations.
Experience in hospitals, medical centers, or healthcare facilities is preferred.
Skills Required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
Ability to conduct audits and root cause analyses.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
