Role Summary

The Group Accountant will own IFRS 16 lease accounting and the Fixed Assets cycle across all Averda entities in the region, in addition to supporting consolidation, month-end close, and external audits. The role ensures accurate, standardized, and IFRS-compliant financial reporting across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end IFRS 16 lease accounting cycle across all Averda entities: contract review, lease register maintenance, ROU assets, lease liabilities, depreciation, and interest.
• Prepare monthly IFRS 16 workings per entity, reconcile against trial balance postings, and book the necessary adjustments to ensure full compliance.
• Act as the single owner of the Group lease register, keeping it complete, accurate, and audit-ready at all times.
• Take full ownership of Fixed Assets across all entities: capitalization, depreciation, disposals, transfers, and impairment indicators.
• Perform monthly FAR vs GL reconciliations for every entity, investigate variances, and post corrective entries.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures pertaining to transactional and consolidation activities.
• Support consolidation activities, intercompany matching and eliminations, and the monthly reporting pack (BS, P&L, cash flow) with tie-outs and variance analysis.
• Coordinate month-end close activities and consolidated cash flow reporting.
• Lead audit support on leases, fixed assets, and consolidation matters.
• Drive compliance, internal controls, and continuous improvement of the close process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• ACCA Diploma in IFRS (DipIFR).
• CPA/ACCA qualification is a plus.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS 16 and IAS 16, able to build the workings from scratch and defend them in front of auditors.
• Experience working in a multinational, multi-currency environment with operations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Exposure to ERP systems (Oracle EBS preferred), system migrations, or process improvement initiatives.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 16 and IAS 16, and group consolidation principles.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or Hyperion) and financial reporting tools.
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex data analysis and reconciliations.
• Ability to drive intercompany matching, eliminations, and clear mismatches quickly.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to own deliverables end-to-end.
