Fire Fighting Design Engineer Full Time

Role Description The Fire Fighting Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi Industrial City. The person in this position will develop fire protection system designs, including hydraulic calculations, equipment selection, and layout drawings in compliance with local and international codes and standards.

Responsibilities include preparing detailed design documents, coordinating with internal engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers, and reviewing technical submittals and shop drawings. The role involves performing site visits to verify design feasibility, supporting installation teams with technical guidance, and participating in testing, commissioning, and handover of fire and life safety systems. The Fire Fighting Design Engineer will also assist with cost estimation, bill of quantities, and design documentation required for tenders, approvals, and project closeout.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with proven experience in fire protection or building services engineering.
• Proficiency in Design Engineering and Product Design for fire fighting and fire alarm systems, including system sizing and equipment selection.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for preparing layouts, schematics, and detailed construction drawings.
• Working knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles relevant to fire alarm, control panels, and integrated life safety systems.
• Familiarity with applicable fire and life safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, local civil defense regulations) and regulatory approval processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and design accuracy.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience in the Gulf region or similar regulatory environments, and professional certifications in fire protection (where applicable) are an advantage.
