Design Director I Head of Fashion Design

About the Role
An internationally positioned luxury fashion brand is seeking an experienced Design Director to lead the creative development of apparel, accessories, and elevated sport-inspired collections.
Working closely with a globally recognized Creative Director, the successful candidate will oversee the full design and product development lifecycle — from concept creation through sourcing, fittings, product development, and production coordination — while ensuring alignment between creative vision, commercial objectives, and operational execution.

The role requires a strong balance of creative leadership, technical expertise, product sensibility, and operational understanding within a luxury or premium fashion environment.
Key Responsibilities
Creative & Collection Development
- Lead the design and development of seasonal collections
- Execute and evolve the brand’s creative vision alongside the Creative Director
- Develop concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and collection narratives
- Ensure strong brand consistency across all categories
- Translate creative ideas into commercially relevant products
Product Development & Production
- Oversee the full product development lifecycle from concept to production
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, pattern makers, and production teams
- Lead fittings, sample reviews, approvals, and technical refinements
- Support sourcing of fabrics, trims, leather goods, and accessories materials
- Ensure quality, fit, functionality, and production feasibility
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and support internal design team members
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, sourcing, operations, and leadership teams
- Support scalable creative workflows and collection planning
Market & Trend Research
- Monitor global fashion, luxury, and elevated sportswear trends
- Conduct trend research, market analysis, and competitive benchmarking
- Support sourcing and creative research trips when required
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or related field
- 10 –12+ years of experience within luxury or premium fashion brands
- Strong experience in apparel, accessories, and sport-inspired collections
- Proven experience leading collection development and product execution
- Strong understanding of Garment construction, Pattern development, Luxury fabrics and materials, Accessories development, Sourcing and production workflows
- Experience working with international suppliers and manufacturers
- Leadership or team management experience preferred
Technical & Creative Skills
- Strong apparel and accessories product development expertise
- Excellent understanding of fabrics, trims, leather goods, and materials
- Strong creative, illustration, and concept development skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and relevant design tools
- Strong communication and presentation capabilities
Preferred Background
- Experience with international or European fashion brands
- Exposure to menswear, womenswear, accessories, and luxury sportswear
- Experience scaling or launching collections is a plus
- Exposure to GCC or Middle East luxury markets is advantageous
- Strong alignment with a modern luxury aesthetic combining refined tailoring, elevated sportswear influence, and contemporary design sensibilities
- Previous experience collaborating with internationally recognized designers, luxury fashion houses, or global creative teams is highly desirable
