Engineer – Engineering Production Support (Laboratory) Full Time

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

The Engineer – Engineering Production Support (Laboratory) is responsible for independently performing and overseeing chemical and metallurgical testing activities in support of Sanad’s special process workshops and third-party customers. The role ensures technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability of laboratory outputs.

The Engineer plays a key role in validating test results, developing laboratory capabilities, supporting investigations, and ensuring adherence to UAE GCAA, FAA, EASA, and internal standards such as TPM and MOE. Additionally, the role contributes to continuous improvement, technical problem-solving, and mentoring of junior staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Laboratory Testing & Technical Execution

• Perform advanced metallurgical and chemical testing in accordance with OEM specifications and international standards (ASTM, ISO, AMS).
• Analyze test results, interpret data, and provide technical conclusions and recommendations.
• Lead microstructural evaluations, failure analysis, and material investigations.
• Validate chemical analysis results for cleaning and plating processes and ensure process stability.
• Troubleshoot technical issues in testing processes and recommend corrective actions.

2. Technical Documentation & Engineering Support

• Prepare, review, and approve metallurgical and chemical test reports for operational and customer use.
• Lead or contribute to Engineering Evaluation Requests (EERs) and technical investigations.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of laboratory documentation in compliance with regulatory and internal standards (TPM, MOE).
• Provide technical input to internal stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, Quality).

3. Laboratory Operations & Compliance

• Ensure laboratory operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (GCAA, FAA, EASA).
• Oversee calibration, maintenance, and proper utilization of laboratory equipment.
• Monitor chemical inventory, usage, and control processes.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required technical documentation and justifications.
• Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.

4. Capability Development & Continuous Improvement

• Support development of new laboratory capabilities, including test methods, equipment qualification, and process validation.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement.
• Participate in technical trials, benchmarking, and innovation initiatives.
• Contribute to implementation of best practices in laboratory operations.

5. Team Support & Knowledge Sharing

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Associate Engineers and Technicians.
• Support knowledge transfer and training initiatives within the laboratory.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

Minimum Qualifications:(Education/Certification/Licensure/Professional Membership)

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.

Minimum Experience:

• 5 to 8 years of experience in chemical or metallurgical laboratory, preferably in aviation MRO
• Hands-on experience in:
• Metallurgical analysis and failure investigation
• Chemical process control (cleaning/plating solutions)
• Laboratory testing standards (ASTM, AMS, ISO)
• Strong familiarity with aviation regulatory frameworks (GCAA, FAA, EASA)
• Experience in technical report validation and engineering support activities
