Electrical Design Engineer (Substation Primary & OHTL) Full Time NEW

EgyBell is hiring an Electrical Design Engineer (Substation Primary and OHTL) for a leading company in the field of energy and power systems.

Job Overview:

The Substation Primary and Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) Engineer is responsible for the design, review, and implementation of high voltage substations and transmission line systems. This includes preparing primary engineering designs such as single line diagrams, equipment layouts, and technical specifications, as well as performing electrical calculations and system studies. In addition, the engineer carries out detailed OHTL design activities including route selection, tower spotting, sag-tension analysis, and conductor selection. The role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure proper system integration, along with reviewing vendor submittals and ensuring compliance with international standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare primary design drawings including SLDs, layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Design overhead transmission lines including route selection, profile drawings, and tower spotting.
• Perform sag-tension calculations and select suitable conductors and earth wires.
• Conduct electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, and voltage drop analysis.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection teams for integrated design.
• Review vendor drawings, tower designs, and technical submittals.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and local standards.
• Support procurement by preparing BOQs and technical specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction and erection of towers and substations.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections for transmission line routes.
• Assist in stringing, testing, and commissioning of OHTL and substation equipment.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and progress documentation.

Participate in client meetings and technical discussions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Power Engineering.

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Substation primary and OHTL.

Excellent command of English (Speaking).

Ability to work under pressure.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good communication and teamwork abilities.

High attention to detail and accuracy.
