Job Title: Distribution Manager
Location: Bahrain
Department: Sales & Distribution
Reports To: CEO / Commercial Director
Direct Reports: Van Sales Team, Drivers, Merchandisers, Warehouse Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement the distribution network (routes, coverage, van allocation)
Define optimal route-to-market strategy (Traditional Trade, Modern Trade, HORECA)
Establish daily, weekly, and monthly sales and delivery plans
Manage and supervise van sales teams on a daily basis
Ensure each van operates as a profit center
Set clear targets per van, per route, and per SKU
Monitor daily performance: sales, drop size, coverage, and productivity
Drive new outlet acquisition and increase customer penetration
Design efficient daily routes (coverage, frequency, clustering)
Optimize number of stops per route and reduce idle time
Continuously improve route productivity and sales efficiency
Ensure adherence to route plans and discipline
Coordinate with warehouse for stock availability and dispatch
Ensure proper inventory management (FIFO, expiry control)
Oversee loading/unloading processes
Minimize returns, damages, and stock losses
Ensure strong product visibility and shelf placement
Implement display standards and promotional activities
Monitor in-store execution and competitor activity
Monitor distribution costs (fuel, salaries, maintenance, etc.)
Reporting & Data Management
Track and report:
Daily sales per van
Sales per SKU
Route productivity
Outlet coverage
Returns and expiries
Maintain accurate and timely reporting systems
Use data to drive decisions and improvements
Required Experience & Skills Experience 5–10 years in FMCG distribution
Proven experience in van sales / route-to-market operations
Experience managing field teams (salesmen, drivers, merchandisers)
Experience in Bahrain or GCC market preferred
Skills
Strong understanding of FMCG distribution systems
Hands-on, field-oriented mindset (not office-based)
Strong leadership and team management skills
Route planning and logistics understanding
Commercial awareness (sales + cost control)
Problem-solving and decision-making ability
Ability to work under pressure and manage daily operations
