Roles & Responsibilities
Day to day responsibilities:
Have technical and commercial oversight on tax matters within tax and Zakat due diligence projects for buy-side and sell-side transaction projects in Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region
Advise on pre-acquisition and post-acquisition tax structuring and other deal related matters e.g. tax input into legal documents and financial models
Provide a range of inbound and outbound tax and Zakat advisory services, helping multinational companies and investors align their tax and Zakat strategies to their business
Provide international and domestic tax / Zakat structuring and planning for clients in Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region
Oversee advice on international tax issues including earnings repatriation, tax credit planning, cross-border mergers, financing, intangibles planning and worldwide tax management strategies
Act as a primary senior point of contact within the practice for clients in Saudi Arabia, responding to queries, anticipating requests, and maintaining regular contact with clients
Undertake highly technical tax and Zakat advisory projects with managing director support and guidance
Be responsible for coaching, mentoring and counselling junior staff
Develop a professional network proactively seeking and identifying new business opportunities that drives workflow to the group
Work as part of a collaborative team adding to the team spirit
Essential Traits:
Successfully completed an economics degree with a focus on accounting, auditing and/or taxes (or equivalent)
9+ years of tax / transactions experience, including recent experience in Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region
Good understanding of the structure of, private equity and sovereign wealth funds. Ideally has advised funds, corporates or government entities on all matters across the investment lifecycle
Awareness of other relevant taxes within the MENA region e.g. VAT, RETT, Customs, Social Security etc.
Knowledge of the international tax environment and recent developments within the wider MENA region
Proven expertise in tax and zakat matters and project oversight and management skills
A strong work ethic and focus on personal excellence
Ability to provide leadership and direction to team members
Must be able to work productively in a high pressure environment and meet deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex tax issues with non-tax persons (e.g. deal teams, legal counsel)
Must be able to manage several simultaneous work streams and projects.
