Job Summary:
We are seeking for one of the largest Bank in Egypt a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and support critical database systems in a high-availability production environment. The role focuses on performance optimization, database security, backup and recovery, and ensuring system reliability using advanced SQL Server technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in production environments
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting
- Manage backup and recovery strategies using native SQL Server tools
- Implement and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping)
- Apply patches, cumulative updates, and upgrades with minimal downtime
- Ensure database security (encryption, auditing, access control, compliance)
- Monitor database health and perform capacity planning
- Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and T-SQL scripting
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams
- Participate in incident management and on-call support
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environments
- Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Administration
- Hands-on experience with: Backup & recovery strategies
- Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering
- Strong knowledge of: Performance tuning (execution plans, indexing, query optimization)
- Database internals and troubleshooting
- Experience with: SQL Server security (TDE, Always Encrypted, auditing, role-based access)
- Patching and upgrades
- PowerShell and T-SQL scripting
- SQL Server Agent jobs and automation
- Familiarity with: Monitoring tools (SQL Server Management Studio, Extended Events, third-party tools)
- Capacity planning and performance monitoring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the banking industry and its specific database requirements.
- Experience with database administration on platforms such as Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Familiarity with other relational and NoSQL database technologies.
- Experience with Middleware like Oracle WebLogic Server, JBOSS, Wildfly, or other middleware solutions.
