Quality Control Inspector Full Time NEW

Geo-Jade Petroleum – South Basra Integrated Project (SBIPRO) is seeking an experienced ( Iraqi Candidate ) Quality Control Inspector with 10 years solid Oil & Gas experience . This role works with Facilities & Construction on Daily / or rotation basis based in Basra Iraq.

Serve as the F&C’s civil engineering technical authority for surface facilities projects, providing expert leadership and technical decision support across design and construction. The role ensures that all civil engineering deliverables and site execution by the PMS and EPC contractors fully comply with international codes, Company specifications, Iraqi regulatory requirements, and health, safety, and environment obligations—protecting the Company’s interests and enabling safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Job Objectives:

• Serve as the F&C’s civil & structural engineering technical authority, reviewing and approving key FEED and EPC design deliverables to ensure alignment with project objectives and that all technical decisions are defensible to BOC and other stakeholders.
• Serve as the F&C’s civil & structural construction authority, ensuring all civil works are executed in line with project objectives and fully compliant with the approved design, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Participate in major technical reviews, studies and oversee the implementation of the recommendation.
• Participate in company quality audit.
• Provide expert civil and structural support for operating & existing facilities, including structural and foundation adequacy checks, integrity assessments, and anomaly reports

Supervise the PMC and EPC Contractor team to ensure all the civil & structural construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality control requirements, and applicable standards.

Key responsibilities of the role (mentioned the role function)

• Technical Review & Approval: Review and approve critical civil & structural engineering deliverables and specifications from PMC/EPC Contractors, including but not limited to site layout, structures include equipment foundations, tank foundations, pools, pipe and Instrument supports, pipe sleepers, pipe rack, cable trench, infrastructure (roads, pavement, drainage ditch, fences, gates etc.), support details, specifications, grading and leveling drawings, architectural plan, elevation, sections and detail drawings for buildings, soil treatment etc. Procurement engineering activities including preparation of enquiry specifications, bid evaluation, preparation of purchase specifications, expediting and approval of vendor drawings
• Design surveillance & Compliance Assurance: Ensure all Civil designs and construction rigorously adhere to Company’s Project Specifications, well versed with modeling and simulations and applicable international codes, and mandatory requirements of Iraqi authorities (e.g., Basra Oil Company). Oversee design suitability for local conditions.
• Technical Studies & Governance: Lead major civil technical schemes and alternative studies for existing facilities, including integrity assessments and recommendations for modifications and upgrades, as well as civil-led debottlenecking to remove physical constraints (for example: foundation and structural capacity limits, congestion around pipe racks and supports, access and constructability restrictions, and drainage or flooding constraints). Contribute to the development and periodic update of Company civil engineering standards and design guides.
• Construction & Commissioning Support: Provide Civil engineering expertise during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing phases. Review procedures, witness key tests, and provide authoritative solutions to technical issues.
• Change & Deviation Management: Review and approve Engineering Change Requests, Technical Queries (TQs), and Site Deviation Requests related to Civil design, assessing impact on safety, performance, cost and schedule.
• PMC & Contractor Supervision: Monitor the quality and progress of the PMC’s and EPC Contractor’s Civil engineering work through regular meetings, deliverable reviews, and site inspections to ensure compliance with contract and Company requirements.

Internal Coordination & Interface Management: Serve as the focal point for Civil engineering and construction, collaborating closely with internal teams (Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Process, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Instrumentation) to ensure integrated design and seamless interface with existing facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent (MSc preferred).
• Knowledge of oil and gas and power plant Civil design and construction activities.

Minimum Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in Civil engineering within the upstream oil & gas industry, with deep expertise in onshore surface facilities.
• Proven working experience in the Middle East, specifically in Iraq or similar challenging environments, is highly desirable.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Well versed in FEED and detailed design executions. proven ability in Civil construction supervisor.
• Expert user of Civil software (AutoCad, STAAD PRO, SAP 2000, ETABS, MAT 3D, FOUNDATION 3D, SAP or equivalent for vibrating equipment foundation system, MS office) and engineering calculation tools.
• Profound understanding and practical application of international engineering standards and industry best practices.
• Excellent technical review, analytical, and judgment skills with the ability to promptly identify design flaws and risks and solve complex technical problems.
• Outstanding communication, coordination, and influencing skills, effective in multicultural teams and with complex stakeholders.
• Expert in solving technical problems, making decisive judgments, and guiding PMC/contractor teams to uphold Company standards.

Skilled in reviewing contractor project execution (budget, schedule, progress, risks) to ensure technical and commercial objectives are met.
