Job Purpose
The Vehicle Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing routine and complex mechanical maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Daher Foods’ fleet vehicles. This role ensures vehicles are safe, operationally reliable, and compliant with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
The technician supports fleet operations by reducing vehicle downtime, maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, and assisting in technical troubleshooting. The position may also provide guidance to junior technicians and helpers to ensure efficient workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Operations & Troubleshooting
•Conduct mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance for fleet vehicles.
•Respond promptly to breakdowns or urgent mechanical issues.
•Execute daily work orders as assigned by the supervisor or team leader.
•Provide feedback on mechanical faults, recurring issues, and resource needs.
•Ensure all repair activities comply with company standards and safety regulations.
2. Preventive Maintenance & Fleet Reliability
•Assist in executing preventive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns.
•Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
•Maintain service logs and document repairs accurately.
•Track recurring mechanical problems and report to supervisors.
3. Technical Support & Team Coordination
•Act as a technical reference for junior technicians and helpers.
•Guide helpers in mechanical tasks and proper use of tools.
•Collaborate with the production and logistics teams to prioritize repairs.
•Support supervisors in monitoring team performance and efficiency.
4. Spare Parts & Equipment Handling
•Conduct regular inventory checks for mechanical spare parts.
•Ensure availability of tools and equipment needed for vehicle repairs.
•Report shortages or requirements to the supervisor to prevent delays.
5. Safety & Compliance
•Follow all workshop safety rules and use PPE consistently.
•Ensure mechanical repairs meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
•Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the workshop.
•Support audits, inspections, and safety checks as requested.
6. Reporting & Documentation
•Record completed repairs, diagnostic findings, and preventive maintenance tasks.
•Report progress and issues to the Vehicle Mechanical Supervisor.
•Maintain service logs for each vehicle in accordance with company policy.
•Contribute to performance reports and KPI tracking for fleet maintenance.
Undertake additional responsibilities as required, in line with the scope, level, and objectives of the role.
Job Requirements
• Education: BT Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Automotive Technology or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Vehicle Mechanical Technician or at a supervisory level.
Experience in fleet maintenance preferred.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems (engine, brakes, suspension, transmission, steering).
Skilled in using mechanical tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance charts.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance techniques and schedules.
