Senior Engineer – Mechanical Full Time

Job Description

Design Review and Coordination
  1. Review and understand all mechanical design drawings, specifications, and project documents for infrastructure scope (plumbing, firefighting, fuel systems, pumping stations, etc.). 
  2. Coordinate with designers/consultants to clarify mechanical design intent, resolve discrepancies, and ensure completeness of technical information. 
  3. Prepare and maintain mechanical design review comments, registers, and RFI/technical query logs for internal follow-up and submission. 
  4. Mechanical packages preparation for infrastructure projects.
Compliance Between Drawings, Specifications, and BOQ
  1. Check and verify that mechanical BOQ items match drawings and specifications in terms of scope, units, and descriptions. 
  2. Identify and highlight mismatches, missing items, duplication, or ambiguity between mechanical drawings, BOQ, and specifications. 
  3. Prepare clear deviation and clarification lists for mechanical scope to be included in the technical proposal. 
Quantity Takeoff and Technical Scoping
  1. Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs from mechanical drawings for all infrastructure mechanical elements (piping systems, pumps, firefighting equipment, valves, fittings, accessories, etc.). 
  2. Prepare structured mechanical takeoff sheets with clear references, assumptions, and measurement methods. 
  3. ​Define the technical scope of mechanical work to support the proposal, ensuring completeness of quantities and technical coverage.
Value Engineering (Technical)
  1. Review mechanical design and specifications to identify potential technical value engineering options (alternative mechanical systems, equipment, materials, or routing) that maintain required quality and functionality. 
  2. Coordinate internally to evaluate proposed mechanical alternatives and prepare supporting technical justifications and narratives.
Technical Proposal Documentation and Reports
  1. Compile and prepare all technical sections of the proposal related to mechanical works in infrastructure projects in line with RFP requirements. 
  2. Prepare the following reports and documents as part of the technical submission. 
  3. Mechanical Design Review Report summarizing main comments and coordination status. 
  4. Mechanical Compliance Matrix between drawings, specifications, and BOQ. 
  5. Mechanical Quantity Takeoff Summary and detailed takeoff sheets (for internal support and reference). 
  6. List of Mechanical Technical Clarifications, Deviations, and Assumptions. 
  7. Mechanical Value Engineering Proposal report (when applicable), summarizing proposed alternatives and technical advantages. 
  8. Technical submittal checklist/register to ensure all mechanical RFP technical requirements are included. 

Job Requirements

   
Necessary Knowledge and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 
  2. Proven experience in mechanical systems (plumbing, firefighting) for infrastructure projects in a tendering/proposal environment. 
  3. ​Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, systems, materials, and equipment. 
  4. ​Proficiency in mechanical takeoff software and tools. 
  5. ​Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  6. Detail-oriented and capable of working with precision and accuracy. 
  7. ​Ability to work effectively in a team and meet project deadlines. 
  8. ​Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  9. ​Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards for mechanical systems.
