Design Engineer/ Tender – Substations Full Time

The Design Engineer – Substations is responsible for the design and engineering of HV/MV substation projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements, applicable standards, project specifications, and company procedures. The role includes preparation and review of design calculations, drawings, layouts, equipment specifications, and technical documents related to substation primary and secondary systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review design deliverables for HV/MV substation projects, including SLDs, layouts, sections, and grounding/lightning protection drawings.
• Perform electrical design calculations such as grounding, lightning protection, cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, load calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Prepare and review equipment datasheets, technical specifications, BOQs, and material requisitions.
• Coordinate the design and selection of major substation equipment including transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, surge arresters, and reactive power equipment.
• Review vendor drawings and technical submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, protection, control, and construction teams to ensure proper design interfaces and integration.
• Ensure all designs comply with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, local utility standards, and client specifications.
• Support project execution through design reviews, technical discussions, procurement support, site clarifications, and commissioning assistance.
• Support or review secondary design deliverables such as control schematics, interconnection diagrams, cable schedules, and panel layouts to ensure proper integration with primary systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in substation design engineering.
• Proven experience in HV/MV substation projects in utility, industrial, EPC, or consulting environments.
• Good understanding of substation primary systems and engineering interfaces.
