Senior Design Solar Engineer Full Time

Role Description The Senior Design Solar Engineer will lead the design and engineering of solar PV systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects. This full-time, Remote/Hybrid role is based in Cairo, Egypt, and involves developing system layouts, performing detailed PV and electrical design, and preparing engineering drawings and documentation. The role includes conducting site assessments, resource and yield studies, and technical due diligence to ensure designs are feasible, compliant, and optimized for performance and cost.

The engineer will collaborate with project managers, clients, and external stakeholders to refine technical requirements, support proposals, and respond to technical queries.

Responsibilities also include reviewing vendor specifications, ensuring adherence to local and international codes and standards, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting project management , commissioning and troubleshooting activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the Solar Industry with hands-on experience delivering Solar Power projects.
• Proficiency in Solar Systems and PV Design, including system sizing, layout optimization, and energy yield assessment.
• 3-5 years work experience.
• Solid background in Electrical Design for LV and MV systems related to solar PV, including protection, cable sizing, grid interconnection and grid impact studies.
• Experience using PV design and simulation tools (e.g. Autocad , PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, ETAP or similar) and familiarity with relevant standards and codes.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field; professional certification or chartership is an advantage.
• Proven experience in designing commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar projects in the MENA region or similar markets.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks, grid connection processes, and local authority requirements in the MEA region.
