Lab Analyst Full Time NEW

Geo-Jade Petroleum – South Basra Integrated Project (SBIPRO) is seeking an experienced ( Iraqi Candidate ) Lab Analyst with 10 years solid Oil & Gas experience . This role works with Production Department on Daily / or rotation basis based in Basra Iraq.

JOB OBJECTIVE :

• Interactions with engineering, prepare reports in a timely manner that summarize project, draw conclusions and make recommendations derived from engineering analysis of the work in a clear, concise and accurate manner.

• Develop skills by actively pursuing through on the job or formal training, related to the engineering knowledge. These skills are test technology, instrumentation, test control systems, structural analysis.

• Continue to develop production QC knowledge and the application of these skills to test various components of operation process, chemical injection optimization, and crude oil & water quality linkage with system reliability

• Apply an in-depth working and operational knowledge of the main oil/gas, field Chemistry and process systems and challenges i.e. oil / gas / water and solids characterization (chemical and physical properties), formation and well chemistry, multiphase separation, gas compression and treatment, produced water treatment and water injection

• Assists in the preparation of the annual operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets for the Laboratory in Halfaya Field
• Undertakes all activities whilst ensuring that the Company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures are fully implemented and adhered to, so that Loss Prevention is maximized. Similarly, ensures that subordinates are fully familiar with the HSE Safety rules and that all Field Staff accordingly and strictly observe these.
• Undertakes the development of National staff through a structured development and training program.
• Interface closely with Laboratory Superintendent regarding individual development requirements and those of the less experienced members of the chemistry / process team:
• Optimizing and adjustment of chemical treatment programs and injection rates.
• Develop technical ability and interpersonal skills

• Support team and project efficiency
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced chemists in the team
• Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Halfaya Laboratory and Performs supervisory duties at the level established by management for the position.
• Identify problem areas leading to out of specification production of crude oil and recommend corrective actions.
• Support the timely delivery of assigned R&D projects / new products in collaboration with Platform Leaders.
• Ensure the samples are recorded and analyzed according to ASTM and Industry approved methods; and that all equipment necessary to do so are maintained in good operating condition
• Undertakes and ensures that the Company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures are fully implemented and adhered to, so that Loss Prevention is maximized.
• Undertakes all activities to achieve work quality in accordance with the Company QA/QC standards and procedures.
• Undertakes and implements short, medium and long-term laboratory operating plans and programs to meet anticipated crude oil production. Prepare all laboratory procedures.
• Be familiar with plant specific lab test methods. Perform them accurately and efficiently, meeting the needs of the plant and Quality Control team and making sure the lab technician team is doing the same.
• Undertakes the preparation of the daily lab report inclusive of test reports for daily water analysis, daily crude oil tests and salt contents of crude oil.
• Checks and evaluates test results performed by subordinates and prepares final reports on industrial water analysis, scale analysis, chemical quality tests, analysis of sediments and water and salt for crude. Includes receiving and reviewing collated reports, carrying out necessary corrections, finalizing and processing as required.
• Undertakes the injection of chemicals into oil and water systems and ensures proper implementation of chemicals treatment programs.
• Coordinates with the Corrosion team regarding the oil contents analysis and advises on chemical usage and corrosion management.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets for the Laboratory. Includes analysis of deviations and preparation of reconciliations accordingly, by reviewing expenditures, confirming with actual budget, making necessary adjustments, forecasting following year’s additional expenses. Submits to superintendent for review.
• Provides consultation to the Production Department by recommending process improvements and advice on injecting accurate chemical dosage to the process. Also, provides consultancy services for wastewater management. Includes providing expert advice on future water injection analysis requirements.
• Contribute in tender bidding exercise process of production chemicals including documentation, bottle testing/lab testing and field trial stage.
• Undertakes the implementation of short, medium and long-term maintenance programs for the Laboratory to ensure constant availability for analysis work.
• Undertakes the monitoring of the quality of produced oil to ensure it is within the specified limits. Includes scheduling laboratory activities related to sampling and testing of oil. Authorize adjustment of chemical treatment programs and injection rates.
• Undertakes and ensures that chemical supplies are adequate and that storage tanks are re-filled when necessary.
• Undertakes laboratory development work to improve the services provided, ensuring that standardization and calibration tests are carried out regularly.
• Undertakes other similar or related duties such as ensuring availability of all equipment and consumables for the daily operation, participating in safety programs, preparing reports and liaising with outside chemical companies regarding new products.
• Similarly, undertakes the preparation of special studies and analysis of chemicals consumed, ensuring that accurate records are kept of all chemical stocks and movements.
• Undertakes and ensures that all safety rules and regulations are fully explained to all staff including the safe handling and use of chemicals and disposal of water products.
• Ensures that all accidents and incidents are efficiently investigated and analyzed, including implementation of measures to avoid a recurrence.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment.
• Maintain and prepare a variety of technical reports.
• Research and develop new tests to analyze crude oil, water, industrial wastewater, gases, and sludge. Validate specifications and ensure testing according to relevant standard

• Reports safety incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions as per Company procedures.

Reporting

• Prepares daily, weekly and monthly Lab reports.
• Provides KPI analysis and recommendations for improvement.

7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.Sc. in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering with gained a wide knowledge in the Oil & Gas industry.

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum 10 -14 years maintenance experience in Oil & Gas industry.

• Proven experience in oil & gas chemical laboratories.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Strong computer knowledge in MS Office, advanced excel Quality Management systems (QMS) and DMS system.
• Very good written and spoken English language
• Acceptable level of knowledge in processing techniques and existing resources
• Advanced understanding of production chemicals treatment & injection process.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
