Job Description
The job holder will focus on developing whole-building energy models to simulate performance and thermal behavior. You will support the MEP design process by reviewing project data, evaluating HVAC system efficiency, and identifying energy-saving opportunities to meet building codes and sustainability goals.
Job Requirements
Energy Modeling & Simulation
- Build detailed 3D geometries and thermal zones using industry-standard simulation tools (e.g., DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, or similar).
- Perform dynamic energy simulations to predict annual consumption, peak loads, and thermal comfort.
- Simulate various Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) to optimize building envelopes and mechanical system performance.
Data Analysis & HVAC Review
- Review architectural and mechanical plans to extract accurate dimensions, thermal properties, and system specifications for model inputs.
- Analyze historical utility data and operational schedules to establish energy baselines and calibrate models for existing buildings.
- Evaluate HVAC system configurations (such as VRF, chilled water loops, and AHUs) to ensure simulation logic aligns with mechanical design.
Technical Documentation
- Prepare clear technical reports summarizing modeling methodology and energy savings results.
- Organize and manage project data and simulation files to ensure quality control and easy retrieval.
- Assist senior engineers in drafting project deliverables for energy audits or green building certifications.
