A Boat Manager oversees daily operations, maintenance, safety compliance, and staff for luxury cruises.
Key duties include managing vessel upkeep, coordinating crew, scheduling, and ensuring high-quality guest services, often requiring maritime knowledge, technical proficiency, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Direct daily vessel operations, including scheduling, voyage planning, and logistical coordination for guests and staff.
Maintenance & Technical Oversight: Ensure the vessel is clean, fueled, and fully operational by scheduling, managing, and executing maintenance tasks and repairs.
Staff Management & Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise crew members, including relief skippers and first mates.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, maritime laws, and vessel insurance requirements, including maintaining an up-to-date risk register.
Guest Services & Club Management: In a boat club setting, this involves managing memberships, ensuring boats are ready for members, and ensuring high-level hospitality.
Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, approve invoices, track costs, and optimize cost-efficiency for operations and maintenance.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience in maritime, hospitality management, or boat club operations is typically required.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of vessel mechanics, marine systems, and safety procedures.
Leadership & Communication: Ability to lead a team, communicate with stakeholders, and resolve conflicts.
Skills: Proficiency in computer software for scheduling, maintenance tracking, and communication
Common Work Environment: This role often involves being on-site (waterfront), with potential 24/7 duty callouts and the need for high-pressure problem-solving.
