Finance Manager, Marketplace & E-commerce Operations Full Time NEW

Rwaj is a live commerce marketplace built for the Middle East, enabling sellers to sell through livestreams, auctions, and direct marketplace listings.

We are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager who can take ownership of Rwaj’s financial operations, marketplace accounting, seller payouts, VAT readiness, reconciliations, reporting, and financial controls.

This role is ideal for someone who understands e-commerce or marketplace businesses and can work across finance, operations, product, and technology teams.

Role Overview

The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing Rwaj’s financial operations and helping build the financial structure required for a marketplace business.

This is not only a bookkeeping role. We need someone who understands how money moves in a marketplace: buyer payments, seller balances, platform commissions, refunds, payouts, VAT, shipping-related costs, reconciliations, and management reporting.

The right candidate should be comfortable working in a startup environment, building processes from scratch, and translating business operations into clear financial controls and reports.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations

• Manage day-to-day finance operations for the marketplace.
• Track buyer payments, seller balances, platform commissions, refunds, payouts, and related financial movements.
• Ensure accurate recording of marketplace transactions and financial events.
• Monitor outstanding balances, payable amounts, pending settlements, and operational financial exposure.
• Support monthly closing, financial reporting, and management review.

Marketplace Accounting & Controls

• Build and maintain controls around seller payouts, wallet balances, refunds, adjustments, and transaction reconciliation.
• Ensure seller payable balances are accurately tracked and reported.
• Review financial exceptions, unmatched transactions, failed payouts, delayed settlements, and refund-related issues.
• Create clear approval workflows for finance-sensitive actions.
• Help define internal policies for payouts, refunds, adjustments, and financial exception handling.

VAT, Tax & Compliance

• Manage VAT-related financial preparation and reporting support.
• Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, and relevant authorities when needed.
• Ensure transactions are reviewed correctly from a VAT and invoice perspective.
• Support VAT treatment for marketplace sales, shipping-related charges, refunds, credit notes, and cross-border activity.
• Help maintain proper documentation and evidence for tax and audit readiness.

Reconciliation & Reporting

• Reconcile payment transactions, bank statements, refunds, seller payouts, and operational finance records.
• Prepare regular reports on revenue, commissions, seller liabilities, refunds, payout exposure, VAT, shipping-related costs, and financial exceptions.
• Support management dashboards and financial reporting requirements.
• Identify financial leakage, reconciliation gaps, and operational risks.
• Work with the product and technology teams to improve finance-related reporting inside the admin platform.

Cross-Border & Subsidiary Coordination

• Support finance coordination across Rwaj’s entities and operating countries.
• Help track local expenses, intercompany-related items, bank activity, and cross-border financial flows.
• Coordinate with local accountants or advisors where needed.
• Ensure management has visibility over financial activity across different countries.

Process Building

• Build finance SOPs for marketplace operations.
• Help design finance workflows for launch and post-launch scale.
• Work closely with the CEO, product team, engineering team, and operations.
• Translate finance requirements into practical reports, dashboards, controls, and acceptance criteria.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in accounting, finance, financial operations, or controllership.
• Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, fintech, payments, logistics, or platform businesses is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting, VAT, reconciliations, payables, receivables, revenue reporting, and management reporting.
• Experience with seller payouts, marketplace commissions, refunds, payment reconciliation, or wallet-like balances is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with Saudi VAT and GCC tax requirements is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work with product and engineering teams to define financial reports, system requirements, and controls.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Experience with accounting systems, ERP tools, dashboards, or BI tools is a plus.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable building processes from scratch.
• Arabic and English proficiency preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience in marketplace platforms, e-commerce platforms, fintech, logistics, or online payment operations.
• Experience with payment gateway reconciliation, seller settlement, refunds, or payout workflows.
• Experience supporting VAT, tax filing, audits, or management reporting in Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
• Experience working in a startup or fast-growing digital business.
• Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is a plus, but practical marketplace experience is more important.
