Roles & Responsibilities
Oversee the efficient management of multiple substation stores, ensuring optimal inventory levels and minimizing stockouts for critical electrical components and civil materials.
Implement and maintain robust inventory control systems, utilizing software and physical audits to track material movement and prevent losses.
Supervise a team of storekeepers and logistics personnel, providing training and mentorship to enhance their performance and adherence to safety protocols.
Manage the procurement process, sourcing materials from approved vendors, negotiating favorable pricing, and ensuring timely delivery to meet project deadlines.
Manage day-to-day civil store operations including receipt, storage, issuance, and housekeeping.
Verify civil materials against LPOs, delivery notes, approved submittals, and drawings; coordinate inspections with QA/QC.
Maintain accurate inventory records, bin cards, ERP/system entries, and conduct periodic reconciliation.
Ensure materials are issued strictly against approved Material Requisitions (MR) with full traceability.
Maintain complete store documentation including GRNs, MRs, MIRs, test certificates, delivery challans, and return notes.
Ensure proper stacking, segregation, and preservation of cement, steel, shuttering, aggregates, precast items, and chemicals.
Coordinate with civil engineers and planning teams to ensure timely material availability as per construction schedules.
Desired Candidate Profile
Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Holds relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
Demonstrates a minimum of 10 years of experience in store management or a similar role, with a strong preference for experience in the electrical utility industry.
Exhibits a deep understanding of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
Proven experience in handling building materials related to construction of substations.
