Position Title: CAD & CAM & R&D Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time | Location: Kuwait

Role Purpose:

This role is responsible for digitizing and optimizing the design-to-production workflow for wood and fabric components by developing accurate CAD models, nesting layouts, CNC-ready programs, and technical production files. The role combines CAD/CAM engineering, CNC programming, R&D/product development, tooling knowledge, machine troubleshooting, and production support.

Responsibilities:

Design & Modeling

• Develop 2D and 3D product designs and components using AutoCAD, Rhino, or SolidWorks.
• Create parametric models and technical drawings for production.

CNC Programming

• Prepare toolpaths and CNC-ready programs for fabric cutting machines (iEcho), automatic beam saws, and 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machines for wood.

Prototyping & R&D

• Collaborate with R&D lead and prototype technicians to develop, test, and refine prototypes.
• Support innovation and product improvement initiatives.

Material Optimization

• Optimize material usage through nesting techniques and machine simulation to maximize yield and minimize waste.

Digital Library Management

• Establish and maintain standardized digital libraries, including templates, parametric models, and cut-file archives.

Documentation & Revision Control

• Maintain proper documentation of design changes, ensuring version control, traceability, and compliance with standards.

Production Support

• Train machine operators and ensure accurate and efficient transfer of digital files to CNC machinery.
• Troubleshoot digital-to-machine issues.

Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct time and material studies for prototype builds.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Knowledge and Experience:

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, nesting software, and toolpath generation
• Ability to maintain daily machine checklists and report breakdowns or spare-part requirements on time.
• Capability to perform basic troubleshooting and general maintenance on the machinery.
• Assigning preventative maintenance checklists with machine inspection of lubrication and calibration.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, and/or SolidWorks
• Understanding of wood fabrication processes (cutting, machining, finishing)
• Knowledge of upholstery and fabric patterning processes
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machines (3, 4, 5-axis)
• Familiarity with material optimization and machine simulation tools

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• CAD/CAM or CNC-related certifications are a plus

Nice to Have:

• Experience with upholstery or fabric patterning.
• Experience with Rhino, Inventor, or other CAD/CAM software.
• Experience in joinery, cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, fit-out manufacturing, or panel processing.
• CAD/CAM or CNC-related certifications.
